Overview

Aaji Care, an elder‑care organisation operating in Mumbai, Pune and Goa since its founding in August 2012, inaugurated its sixth Assisted Living Centre and second facility in Pune on Sunday, 30 August 2026. The new centre, located in Kalyani Nagar, is a purpose‑built seven‑storey building with a total capacity of 49 beds, making it the largest centre the company has opened to date.

Facility Design and Services

The centre is structured to address a continuum of elder‑care needs. Four of the seven floors are dedicated to residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, featuring environments that promote safety, routine and emotional wellbeing. One floor provides high‑dependency care for elders requiring intensive medical and personal assistance. The remaining two floors accommodate rehabilitation and assisted‑living services as well as active seniors who prefer a professionally managed living environment while retaining independence. An exclusive physiotherapy unit and dedicated activity spaces support mobility, cognitive stimulation, socialisation and recreation. The design was led by architect Rama Sane with inputs from doctors, geriatric psychologists, physiotherapists and other elder‑care professionals.

Operational Team

A multidisciplinary team comprising trained caregivers, nurses, doctors, psychologists and physiotherapists will deliver care for residents with dementia, mobility limitations, chronic medical conditions, post‑hospitalisation rehabilitation needs and higher levels of dependency.

Leadership Statements

Founder Prasad Bhide stated that the organisation’s purpose extends beyond adding beds; it aims to “add better days to the lives of our elders” and promote ageing‑gracefully through independence, dignity, companionship and love. He emphasized that elder‑care should combine professional medical support with an environment that preserves individuality and choice.

Inauguration Highlights

The inauguration ceremony was attended by more than 175 guests, including Padma Shri Dr. Prakash Amte, Dr. Mandakini Amte, renowned hotelier Dr. Vitthal Kamat and author‑social thinker Mr. Achyut Godbole. Dr. Prakash Amte recalled Aaji Care’s support to a colleague during her final phase of life.
