Commissioning of Phase I – Zone IV, Jhagadia
Aarti Industries Limited (AIL), a global specialty chemicals company, announced on 7 September 2026 that Phase I of its Zone IV project at its Jhagadia complex in Gujarat has been successfully commissioned. Phase I brings three manufacturing blocks into operation: a Calcium Chloride unit, a 2‑Phenyl Ethyl Diethyl Aniline (PEDA) unit, and a portion of a Multipurpose Plant (MPP). The Calcium Chloride facility adds to AIL’s Energy & Additives portfolio, serving oilfield and energy‑related markets. The PEDA unit extends the company’s existing ethylation platform downstream, building on its 2,6‑Diethyl Aniline capabilities and targeting agro‑chemical applications. The partially operational MPP provides a flexible platform to scale pilot‑validated processes into commercial production for multiple advanced chemistries.
The integrated Phase I assets are intended to strengthen downstream integration, broaden end‑use applications—including agro‑chemicals, pharmaceuticals, coatings, polymers and energy & additives—and enable flexible multi‑product manufacturing. Several products slated from Zone IV are expected to be manufactured in India for the first time.
Chief Executive Officer Suyog Kotecha stated that the commissioning marks a key milestone in AIL’s growth journey, emphasizing that the platform will allow deeper integration, diversification of applications and progressive addition of high‑value niche products. He noted that the focus will now shift to commercial qualification, obtaining customer approvals and a disciplined ramp‑up of the newly commissioned assets, with an aim to commercialise all manufacturing blocks within the fiscal year.
The broader Zone IV platform is designed across multiple chemistry blocks with the flexibility to manufacture diverse chemistries, supporting AIL’s ability to respond dynamically to emerging opportunities in domestic and global markets. The project reinforces AIL’s integrated R&D, scale‑up and manufacturing ecosystem and forms a strategic building block of its long‑term specialty chemicals growth strategy.
