Announcement
ABB announced the launch of AquaMaster+, a digital platform for smart water network management in India. The platform integrates hardware, advanced software and cloud‑based decision tools to help water utilities monitor, analyze and manage their distribution networks, aiming to prevent pipeline water losses and optimise operations.
Deployment Footprint
Approximately 2,000 AquaMaster electromagnetic flowmeter units are currently installed across 15 cities in eight Indian states, including Bengaluru, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Odisha and Delhi. Bengaluru alone operates about 500 units, providing the city’s water utility with large‑scale, accurate flow measurement.
Platform Features
AquaMaster+ is available to water companies that use ABB’s AquaMaster4 flowmeters or as a standalone software solution that can be integrated with existing systems. The service delivers fleet‑level insights such as GIS‑based fleet overview, device‑level data on flow and pressure shifts, diagnostics, remote configuration and the ability to add virtual flowmeters for scenario modelling. Real‑time monitoring stores device and generic event logs, enabling comparison of parameters like flow rate and pressure to detect anomalies early. Remote configuration reduces travel costs and improves response times, while intuitive navigation requires minimal training.
Flowmeter Technical Capabilities
ABB’s AquaMaster electromagnetic flowmeters measure water flow in real time with accuracy down to flow velocities lower than 0.1 m/s and can detect leaks faster than many conventional solutions. In 2022, the AquaMaster4 Mobile Comms became the world’s first electromagnetic flowmeter with bidirectional connectivity.
Corporate Context
ABB is a global technology leader in electrification and automation with over 140 years of history and roughly 110,000 employees worldwide. Its shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (ABBN) and Nasdaq Stockholm (ABB). The company’s Automation business, employing about 26,000 people, focuses on digitising industrial operations across sectors such as energy, water and materials.
