ABB Motion OneCare Service Agreement with ACC Limited
ABB announced a multi‑year ABB Motion OneCare service agreement with ACC Limited, the major Indian cement producer in the Adani Group, to improve reliability of the Jamul cement plant in Chhattisgarh. The agreement covers scheduled on‑site reconditioning of ABB ACS800 variable speed drives, digital monitoring through ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain Insights and future energy appraisals.
Phase one, completed in April 2026, reconditioned 25 ACS800 drives on‑site without a major shutdown. By retaining the original drive cabinets and enclosures, the programme avoided roughly 16 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions and preserved capital and material value. Phase two, planned for the last quarter of 2026, will recondition an additional 25 ACS800 drive modules following the same approach.
The digital monitoring component provides continuous visibility into temperature, current, vibration and fault patterns, enabling ACC’s maintenance teams to shift from reactive firefighting to predictive maintenance. Energy appraisals incorporated in later phases will extend the scope from mere restoration to systematic performance improvement.
Amit Gupta, Local Division Manager, Motion Services, ABB India, stated that the drives, installed in 2010, had a strong reliability record but showed aging‑related trip events, and that targeted reconditioning was the most cost‑effective way to extend their lifetime. Vinod Bahety, CEO – Cement Business, Adani Group, said the partnership gave ACC the tools to stay ahead of problems, aligning with the company’s sustainability roadmap and its commitment to net‑zero by 2050.
ABB highlighted that its reconditioning process reduces drive lifecycle emissions by 50‑80 % compared with full replacement, reinforcing the circular economy logic of keeping material and economic value in productive use while maintaining plant continuity.
Additional context: ACC operates 20 cement manufacturing sites, 119 ready‑mix concrete plants and has been recognised as India’s Most Sustainable Company 2026 in the Cement sector. The company is part of the Adani Group and has set science‑based net‑zero targets validated by the SBTi.
