AbbVie will invest $1.4 billion to build a 185‑acre pharmaceutical campus in Durham, North Carolina, starting 2026 and finishing 2028.
The campus will produce immunology, neuroscience and oncology medicines and create 734 permanent jobs plus over 2,000 construction jobs.
The project marks AbbVie’s largest single‑site investment and contributes to its $100 billion U.S. R&D capex plan, after $2.2 billion spent last year.
