Press Release – National Sports Day Initiative (31 August 2026)
On 31 August 2026, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, a charitable trust founded in 2023 and fully funded by Chartered Accountant Abhay Bhutada, marked National Sports Day by providing essential sports equipment to a group of talented students from the North‑East of India who reside at the Ishwarpuram Hostel in Pune. The donation package comprised footballs, tennis rackets, volleyballs, cricket bats, bags, water bottles and specialised carriers for sports gear, aimed at removing financial barriers for these young athletes.
CA Abhay Bhutada, who also chairs TAB Global Ventures, stated, “I have always believed that India does not lack talent; what is often missing are the right opportunities and support to help young talent reach its potential. At the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, we want to play our part in providing that support and ensuring deserving athletes get the opportunities they deserve.” He highlighted the North‑East’s contribution to India’s sporting success and urged collective responsibility to nurture emerging talent.
The foundation’s broader philanthropic portfolio includes initiatives in education—such as hands‑on STEM learning kits for rural schools and higher‑education scholarships—healthcare, cultural preservation projects like Shivsrushti in Pune, and disaster relief. Notably, during recent floods in Maharashtra, the foundation contributed ₹5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to aid affected families.
Since its inception in 2023, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation claims to have impacted lakhs of lives across Maharashtra through its sustained focus on education, health, sports, cultural heritage and emergency relief, emphasizing long‑term, measurable outcomes over short‑term aid.
