Overview
Advance Dental Export (ADE), a Surat‑based dental laboratory founded by Haresh Savani in 2009, announced the launch of Ultimate Smile Design (USD), a personalized smile‑design methodology that repositions the conversation from specific cosmetic treatments to the overall aesthetic outcome of the smile.
Concept and Philosophy
USD begins with the question “What smile?” rather than “What treatment?” and integrates digital planning, facial analysis, clinical expertise, and artistic craftsmanship. The approach treats the smile as part of the individual’s face, expressions, and personality, considering tooth shape, proportions, smile line, and facial features before any restorative material is selected.
Authorized Practitioner Network
Dentists who complete training and receive authorization become “Authorised USD Smile Designers.” These practitioners must follow the USD protocol and workflow, ensuring consistency between clinical planning and laboratory execution.
Digital Workflow
The USD process uses clinical photographs, videos, intra‑oral scans and other records to capture the existing smile. Digital planning tools then visualise the proposed aesthetic direction, allowing the dentist and patient to discuss and refine the design. ADE’s capabilities—including digital design, custom milling, diagnostic wax‑ups and in‑house production—support the translation of the digital plan into a physical restoration through CAD/CAM technology.
Role of Craftsmanship
While technology provides precision, the final restoration is interpreted and refined by skilled dental technicians who apply knowledge of form, light, texture and proportion. According to Haresh Savani, “Technology gives us new ways to see and plan, but it is the people behind the process who make the important decisions.”
Market Positioning
USD is presented as a shift beyond traditional veneers, crowns, aligners and whitening, encouraging patients to articulate aesthetic preferences and enabling dentists to design a smile that feels natural and personalized. The methodology combines digital accuracy with human judgement to deliver restorations that are technically sound and aesthetically harmonious.
