Deployment Overview

AeroEagle has moved the HackersEra Secure Gateway ECU into series production on its electric bus platform, and the units are now operating in service with the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS). The gateway was designed and developed in Pune by automotive‑cybersecurity specialist HackersEra.

Technical Functionality

The Secure Gateway sits at the centre of the in‑vehicle networks (CAN, etc.) and separates each bus’s internal domains. It permits only authorised messages, requires authentication before any diagnostic tool can modify parameters, blocks unauthorised commands, and records anomalous traffic for later investigation. This architecture prevents a compromise of a single controller from propagating across the drivetrain, braking, doors, battery and telematics systems.

Executive Statements

  • Rahul M Patil, Director of AeroEagle, said the buses carry thousands of passengers daily and that embedding the gateway “means cybersecurity is part of the vehicle from day one, not added later.”
  • Santhosh Marulasiddappa, General Manager and Chief Product Security Officer of AeroEagle, emphasized that vehicle cybersecurity must be engineered into the product rather than treated as a compliance checkbox, adding that the gateway provides a controlled and monitored communication layer.
  • Vikash Chaudhary, Founder and CEO of HackersEra, noted that most attacks attempt to move laterally across the vehicle network and that a gateway “has to be built into the vehicle, not bolted on,” expressing pride that the Pune‑designed unit now runs on buses serving Ahmedabad commuters.
