Afcons Completes First Bhopal Metro Segment
On July 13, 2026, Afcons Infrastructure Limited announced from Mumbai that it has successfully completed the erection and commissioning of the first segment of the Bhopal Metro Blue Line. The work involved using a launching girder at the Piplani Chouraha location to install a 13 km elevated viaduct segment spanning from Bhadbhada to Ratnagiri. The company described the achievement as a historic milestone that will enable speedy progress of the overall 12.9 km metro system, commonly referred to as the Bhoj Metro.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Director of Works of the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Limited (MPMRCL) and other senior officials, underscoring the collaborative nature of the project. Afcons is executing the Blue Line as the EPC contractor for MPMRCL, which is the agency responsible for building the Bhopal Metro.
