Alibaba and China Telecom inaugurated a data center in Shaoguan, Guangdong, equipped with 10,000 domestically produced Zhenwu AI chips.
The facility can train and infer AI models with hundreds of billions of parameters and plans to scale up to 100,000 chips.
Alibaba’s T‑head unit designs the Zhenwu chips, supporting its fast‑growing cloud computing division that offers AI models to various industries.
The launch reflects China’s push for domestic semiconductor alternatives amid U.S. export restrictions, following Huawei’s recent Ascend 910C cluster rollout.
