Aligos Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:ALGS) reported that it received an upfront payment of $25 million from Xiamen Amoytop Biotech Co., Ltd. under an exclusive licensing agreement. The news prompted a 21 % rise in Aligos shares in after‑hours trading on Monday.

Deal Terms

The agreement grants Amoytop exclusive rights to develop and commercialize the antisense oligonucleotide pevifoscorvir sodium for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in Greater China. Aligos retains all development and commercialization rights for the same drug in the United States, Europe, South Korea, Japan, and other markets. Under the contract, Aligos is eligible to receive up to $420 million in clinical, regulatory and sales milestones, together with tier‑ed high single‑digit royalties on net sales generated in Amoytop’s licensed territories.

Regulatory Milestone

Pevifoscorvir sodium has been awarded Breakthrough Therapy Designation by the Center for Drug Evaluation of China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), qualifying the product for priority review of a New Drug Application in China.

Collaboration Governance

A joint steering committee comprising representatives of Aligos and Amoytop has been established to oversee the collaboration. The companies also announced plans to advance Aligos’s antisense oligonucleotide candidate ALG‑170675 into clinical trials in China during the third quarter of 2026.
