Alphabet Expands Gemini AI Features in Chrome to New Regions

Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) announced on 11 June 2026 that its Gemini artificial‑intelligence capabilities are being rolled out in the Chrome browser for desktop and iOS users across newly added markets, specifically Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and other regions. The Gemini assistant operates as a personalized browsing tool that can summarise web content, compare information across multiple tabs and execute a range of tasks without leaving the current page.

Integration extends to core Google applications: Calendar for meeting scheduling, Maps for location details, Gmail for drafting and sending emails, and YouTube for answering video‑related queries. The update also introduces “Nano Banana 2” features that allow users to transform online images by entering text prompts in the Gemini side‑panel, and “Personal Intelligence 1,” which links Gmail, Photos, YouTube and Search to deliver customised responses while retaining context from prior conversations.

Google highlighted that the AI models incorporate security measures designed to detect threats such as prompt‑injection attacks. The system will request explicit user confirmation before performing any sensitive action, providing an additional safeguard for users.

The expansion represents a global extension of Google’s AI‑driven browsing experience, bringing advanced generative‑AI tools to a broader international user base.
