AlzeCure Pharma Announces $2.2 billion Licensing and Collaboration Agreement

On 1 July 2026, AlzeCure Pharma AB disclosed that it had entered into an out‑licensing and collaboration agreement with Danish biotech QuantumCell ApS covering global rights to its Alzheimer’s platform NeuroRestore and the lead small‑molecule candidate ACD856. The transaction value exceeds US$2.2 billion, excluding any royalty payments.

Share Price Reaction

Following the announcement, AlzeCure shares jumped as much as 71 % on Wednesday, touching an intraday high of 7.24 Swedish crowns – the highest level since 10 January 2022 – before easing back. The stock closed the previous trading day at 3.87 crowns, representing a gain of more than 225 % since the start of the year.

Financial Terms

AlzeCure will receive a total upfront payment of US$12 million. Of this, US$5 million will be provided as a direct equity investment in AlzeCure at a 30 % premium to the ten‑day average share price of 3.78 crowns. The agreement also provides for development and commercial milestone payments and tiered royalties ranging from single‑digit to low double‑digit percentages on future sales.

ACD856 is described as a small‑molecule positive modulator of both NGF/TrkA and BDNF/TrkB signaling pathways. Pre‑clinical studies have shown the compound can enhance neuronal communication, improve learning and memory, and exhibit neuroprotective, anti‑inflammatory, disease‑modifying, and antidepressant effects.
