Overview
Marwadi University in Rajkot, Gujarat, organized a fireside chat on 6 July 2026 featuring entrepreneur Aman Gupta, co‑founder of boAt and founder‑CEO of OFF/BEAT, as part of the university’s Orientation Programme for its incoming first‑year batch. The event, distributed by Business Wire India, attracted more than 650 students who engaged in an open‑ended conversation.
Key Points
Aman Gupta delivered candid reflections on his entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing lessons from failed startups, the importance of instinct over data, and advice such as “You should not worry about the world. Don't think what people are thinking. Do what you think.” He highlighted the role of Gen Z, stating “You guys are the smartest generation in this country… My biggest lessons did not come from business school, they came from my startups that failed.” Regarding boAt’s recent public listing, Gupta remarked that after going public “you’re taking public money which makes you answerable to the public and shareholders” and added that he does not feel ready to run a public company at today’s rate, leaving the possibility open for the future.
University Perspective
Trustee Dhruv Marwadi introduced the session, noting that Marwadi University’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Research allocates INR 2.5 lakhs to fund each student‑proposed startup idea, aiming to nurture interdisciplinary teams across engineering, nursing, management, computer applications, and law. He emphasized that education should extend beyond textbooks and that direct interaction with industry leaders enriches learning.
Interaction
The Q&A segment covered entrepreneurship, brand building, startup funding, innovation, leadership, career choices, and the impact of Gen Z on India’s work culture, with Gupta providing practical advice on scaling a global Indian consumer brand.
