Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Nvidia announced an expansion of their AI partnership to meet accelerating demand for artificial‑intelligence infrastructure. The two companies will jointly deploy an additional 2 million Nvidia GPUs across AWS’s global cloud platform during the 2027‑2028 period.
Deployment Plan
AWS will install Blackwell Ultra, Rubin and Rubin Ultra GPUs, as well as Nvidia RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs for Amazon EC2 G7 instances. This makes AWS the first major cloud provider to offer compute instances powered by the RTX PRO 4500 series. The rollout is scheduled for 2027‑2028.
Expanded Capabilities
The broadened collaboration encompasses AI factories, Vera CPU‑based infrastructure, high‑speed networking, open‑model services, GPU‑accelerated data processing, and robotics solutions. Vera CPUs are designed for AI workloads that require high‑performance CPU compute alongside accelerated hardware.
Government AI Factory
AWS and Nvidia will build dedicated AI factories for the U.S. government, delivering 100,000 GPUs on AWS’s secure infrastructure for federal and national‑security workloads. The system will support workloads classified at Impact Level 6 and above.
Product Availability
Nvidia’s Nemotron family of open models is now accessible via Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker. Additionally, the partners are delivering GPU‑accelerated data processing on Amazon EMR using the EC2 G7 instances.
Robotics Collaboration
Amazon Robotics is collaborating with Nvidia to develop next‑generation robots leveraging Nvidia’s physical‑AI platform, including the Jetson edge AI modules, Omniverse libraries, and the Isaac open‑robotics development platform.
Executive Comments
Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, said customers want the freedom to choose the best tools for their AI workloads and confidence that everything works seamlessly together. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, remarked that Nvidia and AWS have built one of the great growth engines of the AI era and that demand is running ahead of every forecast.
