AMD Stock Gains 5% via Microsoft Deal

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) shares rose approximately 5% on Monday following the announcement of an expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft. The agreement places AMD’s next‑generation silicon at the core of Microsoft’s Azure cloud infrastructure for artificial‑intelligence workloads.

Microsoft will deploy the AMD Helios Rackscale Solution, an integrated power‑rack that combines AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, 6th‑Generation EPYC “Venice” CPUs, Pensando networking DPUs, and ROCm software. Helios is scheduled to begin shipping in the second half of 2026.

As part of the rollout, Azure will introduce two new virtual‑machine families powered by the “Venice” architecture: the HDv2 series, optimized for agentic AI and data‑processing tasks, and the HXv2 series, designed for heavy‑duty semiconductor design workloads.

The partnership also deepens AMD’s role in Azure’s networking stack; Microsoft will deploy AMD Pensando DPUs across its AI backend and integrate AMD silicon directly with Azure Boost to enhance cloud networking performance.

"AMD and Microsoft have spent years building high‑performance infrastructure together, and today we’re extending that partnership across the full stack of AMD AI solutions on Azure," said Dr. Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD.

The announcement underscores AMD’s position as a core provider of hyperscale cloud infrastructure as enterprise demand for AI compute capacity accelerates.
