Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of the world's largest curd production plant under the Amul Bengal Dairy Project at the New Town Convention Centre in Kolkata on 19 July 2026. The event is part of the White Revolution 2.0 initiative and will be attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari and cooperative sector representatives.
Amul is establishing the dairy project at Howrah Food Park in West Bengal with an investment of approximately ₹700 crore. Upon completion, the facility will have capacity to process 30 lakh litres of milk per day and produce 10 lakh kilograms (1,000 metric tonnes) of curd and other cultured dairy products daily. The production breakdown includes packaging of 10 lakh litres of milk, processing of 2 lakh litres of UHT milk, production of 1 lakh litres of ice cream, 20 metric tonnes of paneer, 10 metric tonnes of ghee, 10 metric tonnes of sweets, and approximately 2.5 lakh packs of flavoured milk daily.
The project currently involves more than 1.25 lakh milk-producing farmers in West Bengal, including over 30,000 women milk producers, with daily milk procurement of approximately 9 lakh litres. The expansion will provide modern processing, value addition, and marketing facilities to enhance farmer incomes and strengthen dairy cooperatives in the state.
During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between Bharat Taxi and the Department of Information Technology and Electronics (DoIT&E) of the West Bengal Government for operation and expansion of mobility services in the state. Shri Amit Shah will present registration certificates to one of over 200 newly constituted Dairy Cooperative Societies and one of 11 newly registered Multipurpose Rural Cooperative Societies in West Bengal.
The Minister will launch the e-RCS portal developed for computerization of the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies in West Bengal, aimed at making registration and administrative processes digital and transparent. Additionally, he will lay foundation stones for 14 storage warehouses with total capacity of 1,400 metric tonnes across 10 districts, constructed at estimated cost of ₹5.98 crore, and inaugurate two warehouses of 100 metric tonnes capacity each in South 24 Parganas and Cooch Behar constructed at total cost of ₹73.61 lakh.
