Product Handover and Development

  • Apollo Micro Systems Limited successfully handed over the indigenously developed Safety & Detonation Device (SDD) to the Indian Navy
  • Handover ceremony conducted on 30th July 2026 in the presence of Rear Admiral Rupak Barua, VSM, Director General of Naval Inspection (DGNAI), Indian Navy, along with senior officers of the Indian Navy and the company's leadership team
  • Prior to indigenous development, the Indian Navy relied on imports for this critical equipment
  • The SDD is described as among the most critical and unforgiving sub-systems of any modern munition, serving as the final guardian between a weapon and its target
  • The device ensures ordnance remains absolutely safe through storage, handling, transportation and launch, and arms only when every prescribed condition of a valid engagement sequence is satisfied

Technical Specifications and Validation

  • Engineered to stringent international fuze-safety design philosophies with independent, redundant safety interlocks and out-of-line safety architecture
  • Subjected to exhaustive validation including:
  • Comprehensive environmental qualification (mechanical shock, vibration, temperature extremes, humidity and marine environmental stress screening)
  • Electromagnetic compatibility and interference testing appropriate to shipborne and underwater weapon environments
  • Extensive functional, endurance and safety-margin testing
  • Joint evaluation and acceptance trials with Indian Navy
  • Designed to perform reliably in demanding maritime environment characterized by shock, vibration, humidity, salt-fog and severe electromagnetic conditions
