APSEZ operationalises India's first Port of Refuge (PoR) via a tripartite MoU with SMIT Salvage (Boskalis) and MERC.
Two PoR sites designated: Dighi Port (west coast, Arabian Sea) and Gopalpur Port (east coast, Bay of Bengal).
Facilities will offer salvage, firefighting, pollution containment and emergency coordination aligned with IMO conventions.
APSEZ handles ~27% of India's port cargo; targets 1 billion tonnes throughput by 2030 from current 633 MTPA capacity.
