Asian Paints launches “Aks‑e‑Kashmir” and Donate A Wall mural in Srinagar
Asian Paints Ltd, in partnership with St+art Foundation and XXL Collective, announced two flagship public‑art projects in Srinagar on 12 August 2026. The first, titled Aks‑e‑Kashmir, reimagines forty iconic shikaras that ply Dal Lake as floating works of art. Each shikara was painted using Asian Paints Royale Glitz for a regal finish, Apcolite Premium Enamel for subtle shimmer, and wooden canopies and frames finished with the company’s Wood Finish palette. Inside, the vessels feature Ador and Pure Royale fabrics for upholstery and furnishings. The four contemporary artists commissioned – Owais Ahmed, Sheehij Kaul, Zahra Javed and Shweta Sharma – each explored a distinct theme reflecting Kashmir’s stories, craftsmanship and living heritage.
Complementing the floating installation, Asian Paints introduced the Kashmir chapter of its Donate A Wall programme, marking the initiative’s tenth year. An 11,500 sq ft mural now adorns the façade of the Allama Iqbal Library at the University of Kashmir. The artwork, conceptualised by Srinagar‑based architect, artist and urban planner Zoya Kashmiri and executed by local artists, draws on the university’s motto “तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय” (From Darkness to Light). It was painted with Asian Paints Apex Ultima Protek to ensure long‑term vibrancy against changing weather conditions. Over the past decade, Donate A Wall has transformed 24 public spaces across 18 Indian cities.
In remarks, Amit Syngle, Managing Director & CEO of Asian Paints Ltd, said the initiatives celebrate Kashmir’s unique cultural identity and aim to invite residents and visitors to experience the valley’s stories through art. Arjun Bahl, Co‑founder of St+art Foundation and XXL Collective, highlighted the projects’ role in expanding public art beyond static walls and integrating design into living systems. Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, expressed pride in the mural’s contribution to the campus’s academic environment and cultural pride.
Asian Paints also reiterated its financial stature, reporting a consolidated turnover of ₹35,516 crore for FY’26 and a market capitalisation of approximately ₹2,627 billion as of 15 June 2026. The company operates in 14 countries, runs 25 paint‑manufacturing facilities, and serves consumers in over 60 countries through its various brands, including Asian Paints, Apco Coatings, Asian Paints Berger, Asian Paints Causeway, SCIB Paints, Taubmans and Kadisco.
