AssetPlus Introduces Portfolio Management Services (PMS) Platform
AssetPlus, a fully digital wealth‑management platform built for India’s Mutual Fund Distributors (MFDs), announced the launch of a Portfolio Management Services (PMS) offering on 3 September 2026. The new service enables certified partner MFDs to onboard, track, manage and report on PMS portfolios for eligible high‑net‑worth (HNI) clients directly within the AssetPlus ecosystem.
Regulatory Context and Certification Support
Distribution of PMS requires the NISM Series‑XXI‑A certification mandated by SEBI. AssetPlus Academy provides end‑to‑end training and support to help partners obtain this certification and become PMS‑ready. The offering complies with the SEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2020, and adheres to the regulator‑mandated minimum investment of ₹50 lakh per client.
Market Size and Growth
According to SEBI data, assets under management in the HNI‑facing PMS segment (excluding EPFO and provident‑fund money) have crossed ₹10 lakh crore, up from roughly ₹5 lakh crore in FY 21. The client base for this segment has expanded to approximately 2.2 lakh clients, based on SEBI and APMI figures.
Platform Features and Differentiation
AssetPlus claims to be the first PMS distribution platform in India to provide daily portfolio updates, holdings, performance and valuation in a single view, eliminating the need for monthly reconciliations. Partners receive a unified dashboard and mobile app covering the entire client journey—from onboarding to reporting. The platform also offers:
- NISM Series‑XXI‑A certification training via AssetPlus Academy.
- One‑stop dashboard and app for partners and clients.
- Daily reconciliation of holdings and valuations, a capability highlighted by co‑founder and CTO Awanish Raj as the most engineering‑intensive feature.
Partner Network and Scale
AssetPlus works with over 22,000 MFD partners across India. Collectively, these partners manage more than ₹9,000 crore in assets under management, run a monthly SIP book exceeding ₹150 crore, and serve approximately 2 lakh investing customers.
Leadership Commentary
Co‑founder and CEO Vishranth Suresh noted that many partners have been with AssetPlus since its early days, when a client’s first investment was a modest SIP, and that the client’s wealth has multiplied over a decade, now matched by the partner’s ability to serve them through PMS. He emphasized that the platform is intended to be the foundation on which partners build their entire practice.
Historical Background and Expansion
Founded in 2016, AssetPlus initially focused on mutual‑fund distribution and has since expanded into insurance, National Pension System (NPS), LAMF, CFDs and Structured Investment Funds (SIFs). The PMS launch represents the latest addition to its suite of wealth‑management tools, aimed at helping partners serve clients throughout the wealth‑creation lifecycle.
Disclosure and Compliance
All PMS offerings are run by SEBI‑registered Portfolio Managers, with investments held directly in the client’s demat account. Disclosure documents and regulatory information are supplied by the respective Portfolio Managers, as required by SEBI regulations.
