Autoliv Announces HBM Safety Suite
Autoliv Inc., listed on NYSE (ALV) and SSE (ALIVsdb), said on 8 September 2026 that it is advancing virtual testing through its Human Body Model (HBM) Safety Suite. The platform is described as an integrated virtual safety solution that merges an advanced digital human body model for crash simulation with dedicated software tools for analysis, visualization, and decision‑making.
The HBM Safety Suite provides a detailed digital representation of human anatomy, enabling insight into occupant response and injury mechanisms that physical dummies cannot capture. By converting complex simulation data into clear, actionable insights, the suite helps engineers evaluate and optimise safety performance earlier in vehicle development, potentially reducing lead times and improving cost efficiency.
Toyota is the first customer to be onboarded; the automaker has begun using the HBM Safety Suite as part of its virtual safety development activities to assess the platform’s capabilities. Autoliv indicated that the suite will be made broadly available across the automotive industry during 2026, aligning with regulatory trends that increasingly accept virtual testing methods.
Fabien Dumont, Chief Technology Officer of Autoliv, stated that virtual testing is becoming an increasingly important part of how the automotive industry advances vehicle safety and that the HBM Safety Suite contributes to Autoliv’s vision of “Saving More Lives.”
The release notes that virtual testing complements physical crash testing, addressing shorter vehicle development cycles, evolving safety requirements, and the need for earlier insights.
