Axtel Industries Limited has entered into a Technology Licensing Agreement with the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. The agreement was executed on September 7, 2026.
The agreement covers the licensing of technology, know-how, and intellectual property rights relating to the Cryogenic Counter-Rotating Pin-Disc Impact Milling System, specifically described as "High Performance Grinding Technology with Counter Rotating Pin Mill and Cryogenic Conveying System."
Key Terms of the Agreement:
- Scope: FSID will provide Axtel with a fully integrated, tested, and validated prototype of the Cryogenic Impact Milling System, along with technical documentation, know-how, process information, and technical support.
- License Type: Exclusive license for commercialization in specified fields of use, subject to terms and conditions of the agreement.

- Up to ₹3 crores for purchase of the prototype equipment
- Royalties linked to sales, subject to a monetary cap of ₹3 crores

Technology Background:
The technology was designed and manufactured indigenously by FSID-IISc under Phase II of the Capital Goods Scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. The scheme aims to develop indigenous technologies that reduce import dependence and can be commercialized in partnership with Indian companies.
Expected Benefits:
The arrangement is expected to enable Axtel to access and commercialize advanced cryogenic grinding/milling technology and associated know-how, expand its technological capabilities, and develop and manufacture products/applications using the licensed technology across permitted fields of use.
Management Commentary:
Executive Director Mr. Ajay Desai stated that this unique cryogenic grinding technology, currently not available with Indian companies, will permit the manufacture of powders of polymers, rubbers, resins and other natural materials to fine sizes which cannot be achieved by conventional technologies.
Executive Director Mr. Ajay Parikh noted that making such equipment in India will significantly reduce India's dependence on importation of these high-cost machines, as well as the importation of such powders, resulting in substantial foreign exchange savings.
Both executives expressed excitement about the partnership with FSID/IISc and highlighted alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) objectives.
