Azim Premji Scholarship for Delhi (NCT)
The Azim Premji Foundation issued a press release on 26 August 2026 announcing the launch of the Azim Premji Scholarship for Delhi (NCT), which will support up to 20,000 girls in Delhi during the current year. Each selected beneficiary will receive INR 30,000 per year, payable from the first year of college until the completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma; given that courses may last between two and five years, a student can receive a maximum of INR 1.5 lakh over the duration of study. The scholarship funds may be used to pay college fees and other education‑related expenses.
The programme is part of a broader national initiative launched in 2024 that aims to support up to 5 lakh girls across India every year. Since its inception, more than 1.9 lakh girls have received the Azim Premji Scholarship, and because most undergraduate programmes span roughly three years, the foundation estimates that nearly 15 lakh girls could be actively receiving the scholarship at any point in time.
Eligibility criteria require that a student has completed Classes 10 and 12 in a government school (or any school) in one of the 21 listed States and Union Territories—Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi (NCT), Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand—and has secured admission to the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma programme at a recognised institution anywhere in India. Applications are processed entirely online, free of charge, through the official Azim Premji Foundation website.

So, we must ensure equitable opportunities for them in all spheres. Higher Education is one the most important of these spheres — it is an enabler of lifelong empowerment. Our scholarship directly addresses some of the barriers that girls continue to confront in accessing Higher Education.”
