Overview
Bank of India used its booth at the Global FinTech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai, held from September 9–11, 2026, to unveil twelve new digital banking initiatives. The booth was inaugurated by Shri Rajneesh Karnatak, Managing Director & CEO, together with senior bank executives and representatives of its technology and fintech partners.
Core Announcement
The twelve initiatives span payments, cards, programmable central bank digital currency (CBDC), next‑generation self‑service banking, compliance automation, customer‑engagement tools and fintech collaboration platforms, reflecting the bank’s focus on inclusivity, security and scalability.
Payments Innovations
- UPI Help 2.0 provides a single authenticated interface within the Omni Neo mobile app for viewing UPI transaction history, raising and tracking complaints, and managing mandates created on any UPI application. It also offers a transaction‑replay feature that lets users re‑initiate a previously completed UPI transaction from the Omni Neo app.
- UPI Tap & Pay on PoS enables contactless NFC payments; customers can enable the feature on Omni Neo, set it as the default, and make purchases below Rs. 5,000 by tapping their smartphone on a supported point‑of‑sale terminal, where the merchant initiates a UPI collect request.
- Unified Ticketing Platform – developed by NPCI Bharat BillPay Limited – allows interoperable QR‑based ticketing for metro, bus and other public‑transport systems, letting BOI customers book tickets for local transport and tourist destinations through the Omni Neo app as more operators join the platform.
- IMPS Bulk Payment – launched in collaboration with NPCI – lets corporate customers send bulk payment requests via the bank’s Centralised Digital Payment Switch (CDPS), with the system processing all transactions and returning a consolidated response file.
Programmable CBDC
Bank of India formally launched a user‑level programmable CBDC solution that issues digital tokens with embedded usage conditions such as merchant‑category restrictions, geographic limits, expiry periods and specific acceptance criteria. The platform supports secure token issuance, transfers and merchant payments, with real‑time compliance checks. Potential applications include targeted subsidies, relief payments, purpose‑bound benefits and other Direct Benefit Transfer programmes, enhancing transparency and auditability.
Card Product Launch
The bank introduced the Terra Mastercard World Credit Card, a contactless international card aimed at premium travel, lifestyle and global‑payment users. Benefits include domestic and international airport lounge access, accelerated reward points on eligible transactions, and partner offers from PVR INOX, Swiggy, Uber, Netmeds, Paytm Flights, Yatra, JioSaavn, Tata CLiQ Fashion and Tattva Spa, subject to terms. The card carries no issuance fee and an annual membership fee of ₹990 for the principal card and ₹750 for an add‑on card.
Unified AgentNxt Partner Integration
This framework standardises onboarding, operations, reporting and governance for multiple approved technology service providers, simplifying ecosystem management and enabling scalable customer acquisition, assisted banking, merchant services, financial inclusion, payments and collection initiatives.
Next‑Generation Self‑Service Banking
In partnership with Hitachi, BOI showcased a proof‑of‑concept Android‑based Cash Recycler Machine that consolidates ATM, cash‑recycler, UPI‑based cardless cash withdrawals, Green PIN generation and real‑time debit‑card issuance on a single software‑driven platform. Customers can initiate a debit‑card application at the machine and receive a personalised physical card instantly.
Compliance and Customer‑Engagement Platforms
- ALPHA PLUS – a technology‑enabled compliance platform automating functions such as regulatory inspection management, correspondence tracking, advisory, circular repository, deviation reporting, and penalties tracking.
- FinTech Connect Portal – a free, fee‑less portal where fintech firms can register capabilities and submit proposals; each submission receives a reference ID and an internal owner for merit‑based evaluation.
- Markytics – an in‑branch cross‑selling and visitor‑engagement solution that tracks proximity‑based visits, discovers relevant products, generates leads, books sessions, sends reminders, collects feedback and manages rewards, while providing dashboards on visitor activity, product interest, dwell time and conversion trends.
- E‑Kosha 2.0 – a Tone‑Tag‑enabled conversational banking interface that allows voice‑driven access to banking information and services, designed for deployment at branches, Business Correspondent locations and other high‑footfall touchpoints, with future expansion to cover accounts, payments, transfers, loans, insurance, investments, customer service and product discovery.
