Bayer and Plaintiffs Request Hearing Delay for $7.25 Billion Roundup Settlement
Bayer AG, through its Monsanto unit, and the attorneys representing the plaintiffs in the United States Roundup litigation jointly submitted a request to the United States District Court in Missouri to postpone the hearing that had been scheduled for 19 August 2026. The hearing concerns the judge’s decision on whether to approve a settlement valued at $7.25 billion that would resolve thousands of lawsuits alleging that the Roundup herbicide caused cancer.
The joint petition asks that the hearing be rescheduled to 10 September 2026. Bayer indicated that the additional time is needed to process opt‑out revocation requests that have already been received by the settlement administrator, ensuring that parties who previously opted out but now wish to re‑enter the settlement are properly accounted for.
If granted, the delay would give the settlement administrator a roughly three‑week window to handle the revocation filings before the judge considers final approval of the settlement.
The request was filed ahead of the Missouri judge’s consideration of the settlement, which, if approved, would provide a comprehensive resolution to the extensive U.S. cancer claims linked to the Roundup product.
