Announcement Overview

Big Bang Boom Solutions Private Limited (BBBS) organized QuantEW 2026, a dedicated workshop on quantum‑enhanced electronic warfare, as part of the IEEE Military Communications Conference (MILCOM 2026) held from 12 to 16 October 2026 in the Washington, DC area. The workshop took place on 12 October 2026 and featured peer‑reviewed papers that will be published in the IEEE MILCOM 2026 workshop proceedings and on IEEE Xplore.

Keynote and Technology

During the opening keynote, BBBS Co‑founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Shivaraman Ramaswamy presented the case for quantum radar, focusing on quantum illumination that employs entangled signal and idler photons to detect low‑observable targets amid strong background noise. He explained that this technique can provide a significant advantage in the detection error exponent over the best classical radar scheme when transmitted energy is equal, particularly in low‑signal, high‑noise environments where conventional radars struggle with stealth shaping, thermal noise, and DRFM jamming. Dr. Ramaswamy noted that no field‑deployable quantum radar exists today and that cryogenic requirements remain a critical barrier, but the programme is supported by India’s National Quantum Mission.

Development Roadmap

BBBS disclosed that its quantum radar programme is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3. The company targets reaching TRL 4‑5 within approximately 24 months, after which it plans to develop platform‑mounted demonstrators and ultimately an operational prototype. The roadmap emphasizes delivering measurable advantage in contested, noise‑dominated environments.

Collaboration Invitation

BBBS invited collaboration with academia, government laboratories, and industry to address the open research problems highlighted in the keynote, seeking joint efforts to overcome technical challenges and accelerate development.
