Bhartiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) has introduced seeds of 18 crops comprising 124 varieties in the market under the 'Bharat Beej' brand for nationwide distribution. The organization distributes seeds through its network of member cooperative societies, private distributors and dealers, as well as through State Seed Federations and Seed Corporations under various government schemes.

For implementation of its seed distribution program, BBSSL has appointed region-wise Zonal Managers and Coordinators from its Head Office, including officials specifically responsible for Maharashtra and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In Maharashtra, the company has supplied fodder crops, cotton, sorghum and groundnut seeds through the State Government under Centrally Sponsored Schemes including NMEO-OS, NFSNM and Kapas Kranti Mission, while wheat and gram seeds have been distributed through private distribution channels. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the Department of Agriculture serves as BBSSL's Nodal Agency for coordinating seed distribution and related activities.

BBSSL was established to function as an apex organization for production, procurement, processing, branding, labelling, packaging, storage, marketing and distribution of quality seeds. The organization also engages in strategic research & development and aims to develop a system for preservation and promotion of indigenous natural seeds. This operational update was provided by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, in a written reply in Lok Sabha on August 4, 2026.
