The Ministry of Cooperation clarified that Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) does not have a formal branch office established in Bihar, but maintains an operational presence through a field official who coordinates seed distribution, business development, and monitoring activities. BBSSL conducts its seed business in the state through the designated nodal agency Bihar Rajya Beej Nigam Limited, coordinating seed production and distribution with the nodal agency, local cooperative institutions, and other stakeholders. During financial year 2026-27, BBSSL supplied various crop seeds directly to 20 cooperative societies in Bihar, strengthening its cooperative-based distribution network in the state.
The cooperative follows a farmer-centric pricing model where seed-producing farmers are paid the highest of three options: Minimum Support Price (MSP) plus a minimum 10% incentive on graded seed, the prevailing mandi market price, or the concerned State Seed Corporation's procurement rate. This model ensures assured procurement, protects farmers from price fluctuations, and provides a remunerative premium for meeting higher quality and technical requirements of seed production.
