BD India Introduces UltraCor™ Twirl™ Breast Tissue Markers

On October 30, 2026, BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) announced the launch of its UltraCor™ Twirl™ Breast Tissue Markers across India. The markers are implanted during or after a breast biopsy to demarcate the location of suspicious lesions, enabling accurate future localization for surgery, imaging follow‑up, and treatment planning, especially when lesions become non‑visible post‑procedure. Designed for enhanced stability, the Twirl™ marker reduces migration risk and is clearly visualised on ultrasound, mammography and MRI, supporting clinicians performing minimally invasive procedures such as Vacuum‑Assisted Excision (VAE).

Clinical Rationale and Benefits

BD highlighted that precise lesion localisation is critical throughout the breast cancer treatment pathway, which often includes serial imaging, neoadjuvant therapy, surgery and long‑term surveillance. Stable, multimodality‑visible markers help track disease response, ensure procedural accuracy and facilitate informed clinical decisions, ultimately improving patient comfort and outcomes.

Leadership Commentary

Atul Grover, Managing Director, BD India/South Asia, stated: “Aligned with our purpose of advancing the world of health, BD has been at the forefront of introducing innovative technologies and training HCPs continuously towards best practices for enhanced patient care. With the launch of the UltraCor™ Twirl™ Breast Tissue Markers we are confident of further supporting health care providers in India with advanced minimally invasive breast care technologies that align with evolving clinical needs and improve procedural outcomes that enable patient comfort.”

A participating clinician added that integrating advanced biopsy techniques with reliable marker technologies is essential for seamless patient care and that such training bridges evidence with real‑world practice.

Educational Initiative

To complement the product launch, BD conducted a multi‑city educational program targeting interventional radiologists, surgical oncologists and gynecologists. The program was held in Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai, bringing together more than 290 healthcare professionals. Sessions focused on increasing awareness of VAE technology and the clinical application of breast tissue markers, featuring global key opinion leader Dr. Henrique Lima Couto, a breast surgeon‑mastologist from REDIMAMA–REDIMASTO, Brazil, who shared insights on optimizing outcomes with minimally invasive breast care.
