BermudAir Orders 10 Airbus A220 Jets for Route Expansion
BermudAir, a startup airline that commenced operations in 2023, placed an order for ten Airbus A220‑300 aircraft at the Farnborough airshow. The order is intended to support the carrier’s fleet expansion plan, which targets a total of twenty A220 aircraft by 2030 and the eventual replacement of its existing Embraer 190 fleet.
The airline announced that the additional aircraft will enable new routes to Bermuda, Anguilla, Belize and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Six specific routes to the Turks and Caicos will operate from Newark, Boston, Baltimore‑Washington, Raleigh‑Durham, Fort Lauderdale and St Petersburg/Tampa. Five new routes to Belize will be launched, and seasonal service to Anguilla will be expanded.
BermudAir will continue to compete with U.S. carriers JetBlue, American and United on its New York flights, while several of the newly announced routes are expected to face limited competition.
