Announcement

Beta Bionics Inc (NASDAQ:BBNX) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted clearance for its Mint patch insulin pump on Monday, prompting the company’s shares to rise 2.2% in trading. The Mint device combines a reusable and a disposable component, integrates with continuous glucose monitors, and can be controlled via iOS and Android smartphones.

Commercialization Timeline and Capacity

Full U.S. commercialization of Mint is now expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, an acceleration from the company’s earlier target. Beta Bionics plans to launch the product exclusively through the pharmacy channel, projecting that approximately 40% of insured U.S. lives will have access at launch and that coverage will rise to at least 50% within the first year. Manufacturing capacity is slated to produce a minimum of 1.5 million disposable Mint units during 2027.

Additional FDA Submission

The company also submitted its 3D Intelligence insulin‑dosing algorithm to the FDA via a 510(k) application. Beta Bionics expects to commercialize this algorithm by the end of 2026 under the iLet 3D name and, contingent on FDA clearance, as Mint 3D concurrent with the full Mint launch.

Product Specifications

Mint features a two‑piece architecture, provides three days of wear time with a 12‑hour grace period, houses a 200‑unit insulin reservoir, and is waterproof. The device is compatible with Dexcom G7, Dexcom G7 15‑Day, and Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus continuous glucose monitoring systems.

Financial Guidance and Margin Outlook

Beta Bionics revised its full‑year 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $121 million to $126 million, down from the prior $131 million to $136 million estimate. The reduction reflects a potential revenue deferral impact of up to $10 million in the fourth quarter of 2026, as prospective iLet users may postpone purchases awaiting the Mint launch. The company maintained its full‑year 2026 gross‑margin expectation of 58.5% to 59.5%. It anticipates that Mint will be modestly dilutive to the full‑year 2027 gross margin but highly accretive to the long‑term gross‑margin profile as scale is achieved.

Regulatory and Market Context

The FDA clearance represents a regulatory milestone for Beta Bionics, enabling the company to move forward with commercial sales and to pursue additional algorithmic approvals. The stock reaction underscores market sensitivity to product approvals and guidance adjustments in the medical‑device sector.
