Bharat Taxi Service Operational Update

Bharat Taxi is a cooperative-based ride-hailing platform operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, designed to provide a transparent, driver-owned mobility service under the cooperative model. The platform consists of three main components: Sarathi (Driver) Application, Passenger Application, and Backend Management System.

Currently, the service is operational in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, where 7.76 lakh drivers (referred to as Sarathis) and 40.84 lakh customers have been registered on the platform. The company is undertaking a phased rollout across the country that includes driver onboarding, customer registration, document verification, training, and service expansion.

Expansion Strategy and Requirements

Expansion to additional cities and states is subject to multiple factors including operational preparedness, availability of drivers, completion of statutory requirements, and coordination with concerned State Governments, cooperative institutions, and other stakeholders. The company only rolls out services after ensuring operational readiness, completing applicable statutory requirements, obtaining necessary approvals, and fulfilling other administrative requirements in accordance with its overall implementation plan.

Prior to launching in any state, Sahakar Taxi undertakes consultations with relevant state government departments including the Transport Department, Urban Local Bodies/Municipal Authorities, and the Department of Cooperation. The company obtains all necessary licenses, registrations, permissions, and other statutory approvals in accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework, commencing operations only after completing all requisite statutory and administrative formalities.

Implementation and Awareness Activities

As part of the implementation process, the company conducts driver onboarding and public awareness activities before launching services in a new city. These activities include dissemination of information through Bharat Taxi's official social media platforms, engagement with concerned state government departments and local authorities, and other outreach initiatives as considered necessary. The platform maintains an active presence across major social media platforms to facilitate public awareness and information dissemination about its services.
