Binance Research Report – “Onboarding the Next Generation”
Binance Research released a weekly market commentary titled Onboarding the Next Generation, analysing the growing dominance of Generation Z investors on Binance’s TradFi suite. The report finds that Gen Z constitutes 44% of Binance Direct Stocks and bStocks users and roughly 45% of TradFi‑Perps users, making it the largest single cohort across the platform. Among users who have adopted all three TradFi products, 48% are Gen Z.
The share of newly onboarded TradFi users who are Gen Z has risen steadily from 41% in January to 47% in July, indicating continued momentum. More than 90% of TradFi users in every generation are based in emerging markets, with the proportion for Gen Z reaching 95%.
Investment entry timing shows that 30% of Gen Z investors began investing during university or early adulthood, double the 15% rate for Millennials and well above the 9% rate for Gen X. Preparation levels are also higher: 77% of Gen Z report having received formal financial education, compared with 69% of Millennials and 58% of Gen X.
Within the emerging‑market base, 13% of Binance Direct Stocks users are Gen Z investors holding less than US$2,000 in equity assets – a segment the report labels “Next Gen Users”. For many of these investors, Binance serves as their first access point to US equities, underscoring the platform’s role in financial inclusion.
Trading behaviour contrasts with the stereotype of speculative activity. Leveraged ETFs represent only 5.9% of Gen Z trading volume, the lowest share among generations, and Gen Z trades an average of 2.6 times per day versus 3.0 for other cohorts. Initial trades are concentrated in established names, with NVIDIA accounting for 20% of Gen Z trades and Micron 8%, followed by a blue‑chip tail that includes Tesla, Apple and the Nasdaq‑100 ETF.
Despite holding the lowest average investment capital per user, Gen Z has contributed approximately US$80 billion of TradFi volume year‑to‑date, with a month‑over‑month compound growth rate of 24%.
Binance Research concludes that across every metric examined, Gen Z investors—particularly those in emerging markets—are onboarding to Binance as their first point of access to global markets, a central feature indicating the future direction of the user base.
