Strategic Actions
Biocon Limited has signed a license agreement with Janssen Sciences Ireland for the commercialization of Yesintek™, its proposed biosimilar to Stelara® (Ustekinumab).
The agreement grants immediate market entry rights for Yesintek™ in the following nine markets: Australia, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea and Kazakhstan.
This development builds upon previously announced agreements with Janssen that secured market entry dates for Yesintek™ in the United States, Europe, UK, Canada and Japan.
Product Details
Yesintek™ is a human interleukin-12 and -23 antagonist that disrupts IL-12 and IL-23 mediated signalling in immune mediated diseases.
The biosimilar has been approved for the treatment of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
The reference product, Stelara®, had worldwide sales of $6.08 billion in 2025 (as reported by Johnson & Johnson).
Strategic Impact
The additional market entry rights will allow Biocon to offer an affordable and effective treatment option for patients impacted by autoimmune diseases in these markets.
