Bisleri’s Bottles for Change drives plastic waste collection during Pune Wari 2026

Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading packaged drinking water company, executed its Bottles for Change sustainability initiative as part of a three‑year partnership with the Pimpri‑Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The campaign targeted the annual Pune Wari pilgrimage, engaging more than 100,000 devotees and deploying 300 volunteers to clean a 15 km stretch over three days. Volunteers educated pilgrims on source segregation and responsible disposal, resulting in the collection of approximately six metric tonnes (MT) of plastic waste, which will be sent for recycling to support the circular economy.

The PCMC collaboration, which began in April 2024, has already facilitated the collection and recycling of over 310 MT of plastic waste between April 2024 and June 2026. In addition to the Wari effort, the Bottles for Change programme has sensitised more than 40,000 citizens, installed 25 “Benches of Dreams” across the city, and, across Maharashtra, reached 12.4 lakh citizens through awareness programmes while recycling a cumulative 13,905 MT of plastic waste under its CSR activities.

Mr. K. Ganesh, Director – Sustainability & Corporate Affairs at Bisleri International, highlighted that the Wari provides an opportunity to inspire collective environmental responsibility and emphasized the company’s focus on long‑term behavioural change and circularity. Hon’ble Shri Ravi Babasaheb Landge, Mayor of PCMC, praised the initiative as a commendable effort to keep the city clean during the sacred procession.

Bisleri’s broader corporate profile includes a legacy of over 50 years, 128 operational plants, a distribution network of more than 6,000 distributors and 7,500 trucks serving India and the UAE, and a product portfolio that spans packaged drinking water, Himalayan spring water, and a range of carbonated beverages. The company’s sustainability agenda, branded as Sustainability 2.0 and the Bisleri Greener Promise, continues to focus on recycling, water conservation, and broader environmental stewardship.
