Launch Overview
Bisleri International, in partnership with the Thane Municipal Corporation (Education Department), launched the Bottles for Change programme across all 123 municipal schools in Thane on 7 August 2026. The launch was attended by Mayor Sharmila Pimpalolkar, Deputy Mayor Krushna Patil, Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao (IAS), Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Mitali Sancheti and Bisleri CEO Dr Angelo George.
Training Workshop
A teachers’ training workshop was conducted for approximately 200 teachers, principals and government officials from the participating schools. The participants received instruction on plastic‑waste management, source segregation, the recycling process and a structured school‑implementation plan.
Programme Objectives and Operations
The collaboration will enable regular collection of plastic waste generated on school premises, with the material channelled to recycling facilities to support the circular economy. Trained teachers will embed source‑segregation and responsible disposal into daily student routines.
Impact Since Inception
Bisleri’s Bottles for Change, first introduced in Thane in 2019, has so far sensitised about 35,000 students and citizens and has collected and channelised 4,980 metric tonnes of plastic waste for recycling.
