Bisleri International Receives Mahatma Award 2026 for CSR Excellence

Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., India’s leading packaged drinking‑water company, was awarded the Mahatma Award for CSR Excellence 2026, its second time receiving this distinction. The award received over 1,900 entries across diverse categories, with only 70 winners recognised; Bisleri was selected for its Greener Promise sustainability programme, which focuses on water conservation, plastic‑waste management and community engagement.

The ceremony in New Delhi was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Dr Santrupt Mishra and Dr Kiran Bedi, the country’s first woman IPS officer, who served as chief guests, along with Ms Sukanya Bharat Ram, Mahatma Gandhi’s great‑granddaughter, as a guest of honour. The Mahatma Award was instituted by Gandhian lawyer Mr Amit Sachdeva and is supported by Ms Rajashree Birla, Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Rural Development and Communication Initiatives.

Speaking on the achievement, Dr Angelo George, CEO of Bisleri International, said the repeat award reflects the consistency and commitment of the company’s sustainability efforts and highlighted that Greener Promise is driven by employee choices, partnerships and community collaboration. He added that the recognition validates the measurable actions taken to embed sustainability into business growth.

Mr K Ganesh, Director – Sustainability and Corporate Affairs, participated in a panel discussion titled “Corporate Environmental Responsibility: How businesses can adopt and champion eco‑friendly practices,” where he shared Bisleri’s approach to integrating sustainability across its operations.

During the event, Bisleri launched the CSR Good Book, a compendium of sustainable and socially responsible brands, corporations, public‑sector enterprises and foundations. The edition features Bisleri’s sustainability journey, including its work on circular‑economy models, water stewardship and a water‑credits framework designed to encourage water conservation across industries.

Bisleri’s operational footprint includes 130 manufacturing plants, a distribution network of more than 6,000 distributors and 7,500 trucks serving India and the UAE market. The company’s product portfolio comprises the country’s largest‑selling packaged drinking water, Vedica Himalayan Spring Water, and a range of carbonated drinks such as Bisleri Limonata, Bisleri Pop and Bisleri Soda. It also operates a direct‑to‑consumer platform, Bisleri@Doorstep, ensuring uninterrupted supply to customers.

The company emphasizes that its Greener Promise, now part of “Sustainability 2.0,” aims to create a greener future through recycling, water‑conservation initiatives and broader sustainability programmes, linking environmental responsibility to community livelihoods and scalable systems.
