BitMEX, the cryptocurrency exchange owned by HDR Global Trading, announced on 23 July 2026 that it will cease all operations on 23 September 2026. The statement emphasized that user assets will remain safe and under the users' control. HDR Global Trading said the decision results from a strategic review of the business. The exchange urged all users to close any open positions and withdraw their funds before the shutdown date to avoid any inconvenience.

The announcement also recalled that in 2022 the exchange’s co‑founders—Benjamin Delo, Arthur Hayes and Samuel Reed—pleaded guilty to failing to implement a Bank Secrecy Act‑compliant anti‑money‑laundering program.
