Blue Dart Marks 30 Years of Aviation Operations
Blue Dart Express Ltd. commemorated three decades of dedicated aviation services on 17 June 2026, underscoring its role as a leader in India’s time‑definite express logistics sector. Since commencing operations in 1996, the airline arm has executed more than 215,000 flights and moved over 2.05 million tonnes of air cargo, illustrating the scale and consistency of its network.
The current fleet consists of eight dedicated cargo freighters – a mix of Boeing 737 and Boeing 757 aircraft – which form the backbone of Blue Dart’s integrated express network. These aircraft enable next‑day and under‑24‑hour delivery commitments across a broad client base that includes life‑sciences firms, banking and financial services, manufacturers, automobile companies, e‑commerce platforms and small‑ and medium‑size enterprises.
During the COVID‑19 pandemic, Blue Dart’s aviation capability was mobilised to transport vaccines, personal protective equipment and other essential medical supplies, demonstrating its capacity to support national emergencies. Looking ahead, the company aligns its growth ambitions with India’s target of becoming a $5 trillion economy, pledging to enhance network resilience, operational efficiency, and technology‑driven automation.
In remarks on the occasion, Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart Express Ltd., stated that the aviation capability is a “key enabler of our time‑definite delivery promise,” reinforcing speed, reliability and certainty for customers. Capt. Nikhil B. Ved, Managing Director of Blue Dart Aviation Ltd., highlighted the milestone as a testament to operational excellence, safety, and collaborative stakeholder support, and outlined a focus on strengthening capabilities, leveraging technology and building a future‑ready aviation network for the next decade.
The press release concludes that Blue Dart remains committed to driving air‑cargo momentum, strengthening supply chains and facilitating faster movement of goods across India’s markets as the logistics ecosystem evolves.
