Boeing Co. has been awarded a $121,195,041 cost‑plus‑fixed‑fee contract by the U.S. Department of the Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command for upgrades to P‑8A aircraft. The order includes nine retrofit A‑kits—six for Navy P‑8A aircraft and three for Royal Australian Air Force P‑8A aircraft—plus three additional installations of retrofit A‑kits and B‑kits and non‑recurring engineering work to address diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages. Work will be performed primarily in Jacksonville, Florida (80%), with 11% in St. Louis, Missouri and 9% in Mesa, Arizona, and the project is slated for completion in May 2029. Funding consists of $92,809,039 from fiscal 2026 aircraft procurement funds, $8,272,791 from fiscal 2024 aircraft procurement funds (which expire at the end of the current fiscal year), and $20,113,211 from the Royal Australian Air Force.
