BP Takes 40% Stake in Uzbekistan Oil Blocks

BP announced acquisition of a 40% participating interest in six oil and gas exploration blocks in Uzbekistan’s Ustyurt region.
The deal marks BP’s return to traditional energy after exiting the region in 2021 under former CEO Bernard Looney’s green strategy.
Regional president Gio Cristofoli said Uzbekistan has significant resource potential and the stake supports exploration and development of its oil and gas.
