The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has granted approval for the proposed combination involving the merger of Sapphire Foods India Limited with and into Devyani International Limited along with certain related transactions. The approval was announced on October 31, 2026, through a PIB Delhi release.

Devyani International Limited operates KFC and Pizza Hut franchise outlets across India and serves as the exclusive franchisee for Costa Coffee, New York Fries, and Sanook Kitchen in the Indian market. Additionally, Devyani owns and operates several homegrown brands. Sapphire Foods India Limited similarly operates KFC and Pizza Hut franchise outlets throughout India, making this merger a consolidation of two major quick service restaurant franchise operators in the country.

The regulatory approval from CCI indicates that the competition watchdog has found no anti-competitive concerns with the proposed combination, allowing the merger transaction to proceed under Indian competition law framework.
