International Convocation 2026 – Chandigarh University

On Saturday, 27 June 2026, Chandigarh University held its International Convocation 2026 at the university campus in Chandigarh, Punjab. The ceremony saw 273 international students from 24 countries awarded undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

The graduating cohort comprised 247 undergraduate and 26 postgraduate students who successfully completed 57 academic programmes spanning Engineering, Management, Computer Applications, Health Sciences, Commerce, Humanities and emerging technology disciplines.

Country‑wise Representation

  • Nepal contributed the highest number of graduates with 68 students.
  • Zimbabwe followed with 41 graduates, Bhutan with 37, and Bangladesh with 27.
  • Additional graduates hailed from South Africa, Cameroon, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Liberia, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Lesotho, Tanzania, Malawi, South Sudan and several other nations.

Programme‑wise Distribution

  • The most popular programme was Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering, producing 36 graduates.
  • Bachelor of Business Administration accounted for 28 graduates.
  • Bachelor of Computer Applications saw 17 graduates.
  • Bachelor of Science in Airlines and Airport Management produced 16 graduates.
  • Civil Engineering had 14 graduates, while Hotel and Hospitality Management recorded 11 graduates.

Chief Guest and Leadership Presence

The convocation was graced by Peter Munyiri Maina, High Commissioner of Kenya, who served as Chief Guest. He congratulated the graduates, urging them to act as ambassadors for both their home nations and India, and to leverage their education for socio‑economic development.

  • In the QS World University Rankings 2027, Chandigarh University secured rank 526 globally, placing it in the top 2 % of universities worldwide and the top 1 % in India.
  • The university attained rank 109 in the QS Asia Rankings.
  • It has been ranked the number one private university in India for three consecutive years in the QS framework.
  • Chandigarh University maintains 530 international collaborations with leading global universities.
  • The institution holds a NAAC A+ Grade, is UGC‑approved, and is the youngest private university in Punjab to receive this accreditation.
  • The university offers more than 109 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across engineering, management, pharmacy, law, architecture, journalism, animation, hotel management, commerce and other fields.
  • It was recently awarded “University with Best Placements” by WCRC.

The Vice‑Chancellor emphasized the long‑standing diplomatic relationship between India and Kenya since 1963 and reiterated the university’s commitment to nurturing globally competent graduates capable of addressing contemporary challenges.
