Chandigarh University Expo Features 29 Global Universities
Chandigarh University (CU) hosted the two‑day International Education Expo 2026 on 7 October 2026, drawing 9,900 students and delegations from 29 top‑ranked universities spanning 13 countries. The inauguration was attended by senior academic dignitaries including Prof (Dr) Nelson Ribeiro (Vice‑Rector, Catholic University of Portugal), Prof (Dr) Todor Radev (President, Varna University of Management, Bulgaria), Prof (Dr) Matilde María Olarte Martínez (Vice‑Rector, University of Salamanca, Spain), Prof (Dr) SS Sehgal (Vice‑Chancellor, CU) and Prof (Dr) Rajan Sharma (Executive Director, International Affairs, CU).
The expo showcased 18 international transfer programmes, six student‑exchange programmes, three short‑term programmes, as well as summer and winter schools, research internships, all accompanied by scholarship opportunities. Participating institutions hailed from the United Kingdom, United States, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Ethiopia. Country‑wise representation included six universities from the UK, eight from the US, four from Australia, two each from France, Ethiopia and North Macedonia, and one each from Brazil, New Zealand, Malaysia, UAE and Bulgaria.
Key partner universities highlighted in the release were Johns Hopkins University (USA), University of Newcastle (Australia), Wayne State University (USA), Massey University (New Zealand), Western Sydney University (Australia), University of Southampton (UK), University of Wollongong (Australia), Deakin University (Australia), University of Huddersfield (UK), University of Plymouth (UK) and Pittsburg State University (USA).
In its broader internationalisation effort, CU reports over 540 active international partnerships, more than 2,100 visiting international faculty members (including 560 international research network scholars), and over 3,000 international students from 65 countries currently enrolled. To date, more than 2,300 CU students have taken advantage of these collaborations to study abroad in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and other nations through semester exchanges, international programmes and internships.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prof (Dr) SS Sehgal emphasized that “global education is essential for equipping students with 21st‑century competencies, cross‑cultural empathy and adaptable skill sets,” and described the expo as a pivotal platform for direct engagement between CU students and world‑class universities, fostering academic collaborations, joint research and knowledge exchange.
Chandigarh University is an autonomous institution accredited with NAAC A+ grade, QS World Ranking, and approval from the UGC. It offers more than 109 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across engineering, management, pharmacy, law, architecture, journalism, animation, hotel management, commerce and other fields, and has been recognised as “The University with Best Placements” by WCRC.
