Build Summit 2026 Launch

On 15 September 2026, Chandigarh University inaugurated the maiden “Build Summit 2026” under the theme “Innovating for Bharat”. The summit brought together student innovators and senior experts from sectors such as energy, mobility, semiconductors, cybersecurity, agritech and infrastructure.

Hackathon – byteBuilt 1.0

The university, in partnership with byteXL, organised a 24‑hour hackathon named byteBuilt 1.0. Forty‑one teams comprising 135 students from sixteen Indian universities participated, including institutions such as SRM University, KIET Ghaziabad, Lovely Professional University, GD Goenka University, Panjab University, and others. Chandigarh University’s team “MediSphere” secured the first prize with an AI‑powered healthcare platform for campuses; the second prize went to “Dabang Coders” of Panjab University and the third prize to Chandigarh University’s “CodeBliss”.

Aerial Ops – Drone Challenge

The Aerial Ops‑Drone Challenge awarded first prize to Harry Tanwar, second to Arush Singh, and third jointly to Navjosh Singh and Anurag. The four winners will collaborate with Johnnette Technologies Private Limited to develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for border surveillance.

RC Off‑Road Robo Race

First, second and third places in the RC Off‑Road Robo Race were taken by teams Techab, Viksit Velocity and Baba Group respectively, who will work on autonomous vehicle development with industry partners.

Awards and Recognitions

Engineer RK Jain, former Chief Engineer of PWD Haryana, was honoured with the Bharat Nirman Samman Award on Engineers’ Day for his contributions to engineering.

Keynote Address

Dr Arun Kumar Nayak, former Head of the Nuclear Controls and Planning Wing, Department of Atomic Energy, delivered the keynote, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 and a $35 trillion economy, and called for a Centre for Nuclear Studies at Chandigarh University to train engineers for nuclear power plant operations and export‑oriented technology.

  • Swapnil Jain, Co‑Founder of Ather Energy, spoke about India’s shift from assemblers to builders and the importance of industry‑academia collaboration.
  • CB Ojha, Chief Engineer, UT Chandigarh, urged engineers to consider sustainability, inclusivity and public service in technology development.

Technology Exhibition – “Innovision”

The exhibition showcased more than fifty student projects covering AI, drones, aerospace, robotics, sustainable mobility, healthcare, agritech, cybersecurity, blockchain, advanced materials and nanotechnology. Notable displays included:

  • AeroClairr’s Made‑in‑Bharat autonomous drone platform,
  • HydroDrive’s solar‑charged hydrogen hybrid vehicle,
  • HydroHybrid’s similar concept,
  • HydroGelRx’s hydrogel‑based controlled drug‑delivery system,
  • StrataCC’s 5G edge AI solution for intelligent network traffic management,
  • RegenABS’s regenerative braking and anti‑lock braking system for electric vehicles.
