Overview
On August 24, 2026, Chandigarh University (CU) announced through a PRNewswire release that its Department of Career Planning & Development (DCPD) is expanding career‑readiness services by offering in‑house training for a wide range of competitive examinations. The programmes cover the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services, Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level (SSC‑CGL), Bank Probationary Officer (Bank PO), Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Common Admission Test (CAT), Combined Defence Services (CDS), University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC‑NET), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
For the UPSC track, CU provides both 1.5‑year and 3‑year preparation courses that are open to graduates of any discipline, aiming to combine academic study with targeted mentorship, workshops and resource support. In the fiscal year 2024‑25 the DCPD conducted 45 Civil Services workshops; a notable session was held on 17 April 2026 featuring Gaurav Krishna, Senior Officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, who shared insights on the examination pattern and career pathways.
The GATE preparation programme is designed for engineering and related streams, accepting students from B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Sc., BCA, B.Com and B.A. backgrounds, and aligns with recruitment needs of public‑sector undertakings such as ONGC, NTPC, BHEL, DRDO and ISRO. The CAT, GRE and GMAT seminars target eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students (BA, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Tech/BE, B.Sc.) seeking admission to IIMs, other premier management schools or overseas universities. The CDS preparation course offers focused training for candidates aspiring to officer‑level positions in the armed forces, subject to the exam’s eligibility criteria.
In addition, CU runs UGC‑NET Paper 1 preparation to support students aiming for teaching and research careers, and provides IELTS coaching for those planning international higher education.
