Placement Highlights
Four Chandigarh University law graduates have been appointed to judicial positions: Aastha Sharma (LLM 2019‑2022) secured 12th rank in the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Examination 2023 and is now a Civil Judge in Jammu and Kashmir; Jashanpreet Kaur (BBA LLB Hons 2018‑2021) cleared the Punjab Judicial Services Examination and was appointed Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate in 2023; Vishwas Khatak (LLB 2017‑2020) passed the Haryana Judicial Services Examination and serves as Civil Judge (Junior Division) cum Judicial Magistrate First Class since 2022; and Anusha Raj (LLM 2021‑22) obtained the role of Assistant Registrar at the Bihar State Legal Services Authority, Patna. In addition, more than 244 alumni have been recruited by corporate law firms and legal departments of leading private companies over the past four years, including firms such as TACT India Pvt. Ltd, Equilaw Partners, MACS & Associates Chartered Accountants, IOTA Analytics, Civic‑Minds India, Matani‑Legal Private Limited, EXO Edge India LLP, LAW & LEGAL Chandigarh, Naks Legal, PACER Digital India, Steel Strips Ltd, Virtual Admins, Madar Financial, Assentio Mentium Law Offices, Lawyered.in and Vidhi Chambers.
Internship Programme Scale
During the 2025‑26 academic year, more than 1,400 CU law students completed internships across a wide spectrum of judicial and corporate institutions. Fourteen students interned at the Supreme Court, 305 were placed in High Courts spanning 15 states, and 766 worked in District Courts across 19 states. Further placements included 179 internships at lower courts, 79 at 82 corporate law firms operating in eight states and two foreign jurisdictions (South Africa and Zimbabwe), five at advocates’ chambers, 21 at legal branches of multinational companies, five with non‑governmental organisations, twelve with retired judges or government law officers, eight at the Punjab Human Rights Commission, six at the Punjab State NRI Commission, eight at the Punjab State Consumer Court, and four at the Punjab District Consumer Court.
Curriculum and Placement Framework
Senior Managing Director Deepinder Singh Sandhu emphasized that the university’s industry‑aligned curriculum, regular mentorship from sitting judges and senior advocates, and structured legal drafting and research training underpin these outcomes. The five‑year integrated law programme mandates a minimum of 20 weeks of internship, while the three‑year programme requires at least 12 weeks. Summer internships of one month commence after the first academic year, followed by a two‑week winter internship. Specialisation‑based internships cover Civil, Criminal, Corporate, Cyber‑Crime, Intellectual Property, Arbitration, Taxation, NGO and government legal bodies, with stipend‑based opportunities for final‑year students under practising advocates and judges.
Institutional Profile
Chandigarh University is an autonomous, NAAC A+‑graded, QS World‑ranked institution approved by the UGC and located near Chandigarh, Punjab. It is the youngest private university in the state and the only one to receive an A+ grade from NAAC.
