Placement Overview
Chandigarh University reported that 178 students secured full‑time placements and 261 students completed industry internships across its Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Sciences programmes during the last three years. The university’s experiential‑learning model attracted participation from more than 97 national and multinational companies, healthcare institutions and life‑science organisations.
Recruiter Participation and Top Offerers
Among the recruiters, IDS Infotech emerged as the largest hiring firm for biotechnology students with eight offers, while Ind‑Swift Limited was the leading recruiter for pharmacy graduates, selecting eleven candidates. Other notable participants included Sun Pharma, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Medtronic India, Serum Institute of India, Mankind Pharma, Macleods Pharmaceuticals, Centrient Pharmaceuticals, Bharat Serum and Vaccine Limited, Cryoviva Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Fitelo India Pvt. Ltd., and Mikky Publication Services Pvt. Ltd.
Programme‑wise Placement Details
The University Institute of Biotechnology (UIBT) contributed the bulk of placements, recording 118 student hires and 252 internship completions. Sixty‑five companies took part in the biotechnology recruitment process, with the 2024‑25 academic year being the strongest, delivering 54 offers. At the programme level, MSc Biotechnology achieved the highest number of selections with 59 placements, followed by B.Sc. Biotechnology (27), MSc Industrial Microbiology (15), MSc Microbiology (10) and B.Sc. Microbiology (6). The highest annual salary package for biotechnology students was ₹8 lakh, awarded to MSc Biotechnology and MSc Industrial Microbiology graduates in the 2023‑24 session; an MSc Microbiology graduate secured ₹7.5 lakh from Wellcove (CGCS Services Inc.) in 2025‑26.
The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) secured 60 placements and nine industry internships over the same period. Five students completed internships with Sun Pharma. Ind‑Swift Limited again led recruitment by hiring eleven pharmacy students, while Endo India Par Formulations and Macleods Pharmaceuticals each selected five candidates, and Proelio Technologies and Psychocare Health each recruited four. GSK hired three pharmacy graduates. Salary outcomes in the pharmacy stream included a top package of ₹9.6 LPA for a Pharm.D student named Gehna at Karuna Cancer Hospital, and ₹7.5 lakh annual offers for three B.Pharmacy graduates (Ayush Sneh, Atul Chaubey and Armaan) as Medical Representatives at GSK. An M.Pharmacy student, Mandvi Pandey, earned a ₹7 lakh package as a Junior Analyst at Evalueserve.
International and Public‑Sector Roles
Alumni have also taken up positions in public‑sector and international organisations: Sneha Kumari works as a Pharmacopoeial Associate at the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad; Hasan Zubair serves as Head of the Pharmaceutical Policy Division at the Ministry of Health, Zanzibar, Tanzania; and Navpreet Bhullar is employed as a Pharmacy Assistant in Alberta, Canada.
Academic and Research Achievements
Over the three‑year span, students authored more than 40 research papers in reputed international journals, were granted two design patents, and filed three additional patents. Several candidates qualified the CSIR‑NET JRF examination and secured PhD admissions at premier institutions including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and IIIM Jammu. International academic opportunities were also secured: Tanish Bhalla was selected for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree in Leading International Vaccinology Education (2024‑26); Yashika Hablani obtained admission to the University of Melbourne, Australia; Vamshi Kadari became a Graduate Research Assistant at California State University, Fresno, USA; and Ishana Goyal gained entry to the MSc Biotechnology programme at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy.
Entrepreneurial Initiatives
Student entrepreneurship was highlighted by ventures such as Nutripanda Life Care LLP founded by Vedant Rinwa, Nubody&CO established by Deepanshi, and startups Algazen & Okiss Pvt. Ltd., illustrating the university’s role as an innovation hub.
