Chandigarh University announced that 48 of its Aerospace Engineering graduates have secured employment in the space, defence and aviation sectors over the past three years, with the highest salary package reported at Rs 18 lakh per annum (LPA). The university highlighted that a total of 232 Aerospace Engineering students completed compulsory summer training and six‑month internships at premier Indian organisations during the same three‑year window.

The internships were undertaken at a wide range of leading entities, including the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), UR Rao Satellite Centre (Bengaluru), Aeronautical Development Agency (Bengaluru), National Aerospace Laboratories (Bengaluru), Defence Research and Development Laboratory (Hyderabad), Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (Chandigarh), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL, Bengaluru), National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (Andhra Pradesh), Bharat Electronics Limited (Bengaluru) and Tata Advanced Systems Limited. These placements provided hands‑on exposure to space technology, defence research, aviation manufacturing and related research activities.

The university listed 34 national and international companies that recruited its students in 2024‑2026, among them Tata Advanced Systems Limited, Pratt & Whitney (India), Air India, Talisha Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Om Space Rocket, Exploration Pvt Ltd, Botlab Dynamics, Canadian Aviation Electronics (InterGlobe Aviation), FlytBase Labs, Green Aero Propulsion Pvt Ltd and Johnnette Technologies Pvt Ltd. Recruiters engaged students across emerging sub‑domains such as aerospace manufacturing, aviation, space technology, drone technology, robotics, artificial intelligence and engineering solutions.

Deepinder Singh Sandhu, Senior Managing Director of Chandigarh University, described the university’s academic model as internationally benchmarked and industry‑aligned, combining theory with experiential learning through two compulsory on‑site summer training sessions, a six‑month internship, international research exposure, participation in global competitions, capstone projects and globally recognised certifications. The BE Aerospace Engineering programme covers aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, spacecraft technology, aerospace structures, fluid mechanics and drone systems, with specialisations that include aerospace propulsion, structures, fluid mechanics, avionics systems, aircraft maintenance, airport operations, manufacturing, structural dynamics, aeroelasticity and aerospace materials.

Infrastructure supporting the programme includes a Cessna 172D aircraft, a MiG‑21 aircraft engine, a subsonic wind tunnel, a high‑speed jet facility, an aircraft simulator, and a ‘Centre for Advanced Simulation’ equipped with ANSYS and a Flight Simulator Lab. Dedicated laboratories such as the Aerodynamics Lab, Propulsion Lab, Aeromodelling Lab, Aircraft Structures Lab, and Drone Destination Lab enable students to design, test and refine aerospace systems using industry‑standard tools. The campus also houses the Kalpana Chawla Centre for Research in Space Science and Technology (KCCRSST), which operates a real‑time ground station and a Satellite Monitoring System for live satellite tracking and data acquisition. Additional facilities include a Stargazing Observatory for astronomical observations.

Chandigarh University is accredited with a NAAC A+ grade, holds a QS World University ranking, and is approved by the UGC. It offers more than 109 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across engineering, management, pharmacy, law, architecture, journalism, animation, hotel management, commerce and other disciplines, and has been recognised as “The University with Best Placements” by the World Career Research Centre (WCRC).
